Understanding the Cost of LEEDChoosing to have a building rated by a third party can add both hard and soft cost premiums to a project. Many of our clients want to know the “premium for LEED Silver”, or the premium to go from LEED Silver to Gold or Platinum. Often our clients want to latch on to a tangible percentage that they can use to take back to the board of directors or show on their business plan. Sometimes we are asked “what is the payback for LEED on my project?” Unfortunately, there is no magic premium when it comes to pricing a LEED project, and LEED in itself does not have a payback period.
